Electricity rates should not be an extra burden to the public-MR
posted by Editor at 2:53 AMPresident Mahinda Rajapakse says proposed revisions to the prevailing electricity rates should not be an extra burden to the public. He instructed relevant officials to make theses revisions without inconveniencing the public. The president made this statement addressing the 17 session of the National Economic Council held at Temple Trees yesterday. Progress of the practical implementation of decisions taken during earlier sessions on Power and Energy and oil resources was examined at this meeting. The president pointed out the immediate need to complete construction of the Norochchole Coal Power Plant by 2010. He advised the officials to resort to alternative power generation sources .
