President Abdul Gayoom arrived

President Mahinda Rajapakse has warmly welcome the Maldivian delegation led by President Abdul Gayoom. The delegation arrived at the Katunayake Airport at 1.20 this afternoon. The Presidential media unit says the Maldivian president was received to the island with full state honours at a ceremony attended by several dignitaries including government ministers, ministry secretaries and foreign diplomats.
The Maldivian president held a discussion with president Rajapakse at the president’s office this evening. The two leaders are due to enter several bilateral agreements. The Sri Lankan president will present an honorary award to his Maldivian counterpart in appreciation of diplomatic and other mutual ties relations between the two nations for three decades. The visiting Maldivian president is scheduled to meet the prime minister, foreign minister and minister A.H.M. Fowzie.
