Sri Lankan company launches hand protection wears in India
posted by Editor at 4:44 AMSri Lanka-based company Dipped Products Plc, which manufacture hand gloves, today announced its plans to enter country's market in partnership with Indian firm Optimum Marketing Metrics (OMM).
The company, which has joined hands with Delhi-based importing firm OMM to sell its hand protection wears in the country, said that it has planned to achieve a turnover of Rs 1.80 crore from the country in one year.
"Although the awareness about hand gloves in India is quite low but still we hope that we will be able to sell one lakh pairs per month comprising 60,000 for industrial use and remaining for households through launching several awareness programmes," Dipped Products Plc Marketing Manager Indika Kulathunga told reporters here.
He said that the market for these products is yet to evolve in India as compared to markets in European countries.
"In India, we have found a lot of potential in household and industrial sectors such as chemical, automobile and heavy engineering. But it is yet to pick up because of lack of awareness. On the other hand, there is a huge demand for these gloves in European countries," he said.
OMM said that it was in talks with several big retail chains including Fortis Health World, Vishal Mart, Big Bazaar and Spencer in a bid to make this product available to target customers.
"We have already tied up with couple of stores in country and we are also in dialogue with several big retail chains for marketing these products. Our main priority will be to cover metro cities," OMM Director Rajesh Malhotra said.
