4 Tamil fishermen abducted by LTTE off Vedithalathievu

 

A group of Tamil fishermen are alleged to have been abducted and held captive by the LTTE on Wednesday (March 12), while fishing in waters off Vedithalathievu, North of Mannar.

According to available information, four fishermen out of five who have gone fishing were reportedly abducted by LTTE elements. The fishermen were from Pallaimunai area, a coastal suburb in Mannar.

The abductees are said to be Tamil youth aged between 19 and 28 years, naval sources reported.The LTTE is an internationally banned terrorist outfit also involved in large scale drug and human trafficking via the narrow Palk Strait.
