Gazette notification on the names of representatives elected to the local bodies will be issued

The Gazette notification comprising the names of representatives elected to the Batticaloa Municipal Council and the eight Pradeshiya Sabhas and the preferential votes obtained by each member will be issued next week.
Batticaloa Assistant Election Commissioner S. Sudakaran says activities in this regard have commenced. Meanwhile, Leader of the Tamil United Liberation Front V. Anandasangari says his party recognizes the results of the Batticaloa District local government election.
He identifies the election as a vital step to establish democracy in the area. He said that the election is a great success especially when comparing with elections such as the general election in 2004.
