Janabalasena from UNP

UNP General Secretary Thissa Aththanayaka announced that the Janabalasena national movement aiming to defeat the government at any national level election such as general election or Presidential would be launched today.
Mr. Aththanayaka said at a press conference in the official residence of the Opposition Leader that 450,000 Janabalasena animators would be appointed, each one in charge of ten households to mobilize a five tier political force in national, provincial, district and electorate levels.

Mr. Aththanayaka further said that the number of Janabalasena animators that would be appointed would surpass the total vote count of the JVP. The UNP targets to add one million new votes to its base to build up the party as an undefeatable force.

The UNP General Secretary said that the aim of the new political movement to be launched tomorrow with the patronage of the party leader Ranil Wickramasinghe against the corrupt regime is to push it to a general election.
