LTTE sustains heavy casualties during fighting in the Vavuniya area.

Seven incidents have been reported from the VAVUNIYA area on Sunday (23) in which eleven (11) LTTE terrorists have been reported killed during the operations conducted in the area.
A terrorist was reported killed in the afternoon in the NAVATHKULAM area due to a confrontation around 1.05 in the afternoon.
Ten (10) terrorists were killed in fierce fighting in the KALLIKULAM area VAVUNIYA. Six of them were killed around 3.30 in the late afternoon while and four were reported killed in the same area in the evening around 5.45.
Three soldiers were also reported injured in three incidents as a result of anti - personnel mine explosions. One soldier was injured in the morning around 9.05, in the KOKILMODDAI area, another was injured in the morning on the same day in PERIYATHAMPANE area, around 10.45 in the morning and the other at 11.15 in the RAMANATHANKULAM area, VAVUNIYA.
Meanwhile, Troops launched an attack and captured a line of three LTTE bunkers in the PERIYATAHMPANE area around 10.45 in the morning on the same day (23) while in another attack launched by the Army three more LTTE bunkers and two LTTE mortar positions were also captured around 3.30 in the afternoon.
