Nominations for Eastern Provincial Council elections will accept at the District Secretariats

The Batticaloa Assistant Election Commissioner S. Sudakaran says nominations for Eastern Provincial Council elections will be accepted at the District Secretariats in Batticaloa, Ampara and Trincomalee, from the 27th of this month to 3rd of next month.
The independent groups should file their deposits from the 27th of this month to the 3rd of next month at the respective District Secretariats.
35 Representatives are to be elected to the Council.
The upcoming election will be the first occasion to hold a separate election for the Eastern Province since the holding of a joint poll for the Northern and Eastern Provinces.
