P.B appointed SriLankan Chairman

Finance Secretary P.B Jayasundara has been appointed as the Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines while a new board was also announced. The other Board members are Sunil Wijesinghe, Lalith de Silva and Nishantha Wickremesinghe.

The appointments come as the deal between SriLankan and Emirates Airlines expires at the end of March.
The government is to take over management of SriLankan Airlines starting April 1, when the management contract with Emirates ends. The government has said that it is seeking a greater say in the management of SriLankan Airlines.
