President presides to solve Police’s grievances

One of a series of discussions to look into the problems of police divisions was held at Temple Trees under the chairmanship of President Mahinda Rajapakse yesterday.
Provincial police chiefs participated in the discussion. The special attention was paid on various issues such as the dearth of police personnel, renovation of police stations and the construction of police residential quarters and new police station.
New police stations will be built replacing the police station in Tangalle and Ambalantota. It was also decided to set up a new police station in the Karapitiya area. A special security programme is to be implemented in the sacred premises of Katharagama.
The President advised the IGP to implement a special security plan in the southern province during the forthcoming New Year season.
