SC orders the EC to look into possibilities of publishing the final lists of voters in the Tamil language

The Supreme Court orders the Elections Commissioner to look into possibilities of publishing the final lists of voters in the Tamil language.
A three judge panel headed by the Chief Justice made this order after considering a fundamental rights petition filed by the Ceylon Estate Workers’ Front.
The Attorney General was directed to notify the response of the elections chief to the court on the 13th of this month. The petitioners have claimed that displaying of voters lists in Sinhala medium in certain areas in the Nuwara Eliya district where there is the majority of population is Tamil has inconvenienced these people.
The party in their petition has sought a court ruling to publish the voters lists in Tamil medium.
