15kg weighing mine recovered in Mannar

 

Troops acting on civilian information yesterday (April 5) recovered a 15kg weighing mine dumped by LTTE in general area Pallaimunai, Mannar.

According to reports, the mine was found to be an improvised version of a land mine with 11/2 ft width and 1 ft height. The mine is also known as 'capt. Pawan 99' and was laden with TNT high explosives security sources said. An antenna receiver was also fitted to the mine, sources further said.

Troops further recovered a remote control device, 16m length detonator code, 2 electrical detonators and 2 medium size energy cells.
