34 terrorists killed in Vavuniya area

Thirty Four (34) terrorists were killed by the Army in the heavy fighting with the LTTE in the many confrontations which has continued in the VAVUNIYA sector of operations on Sunday (06). Four terrorists were killed in the MADHU area, while three (03) were reported killed during a confrontation in the CHUNDIKULAM area VAVUNIYA by Troops around 12.20 in the afternoon on Sunday (06). In the search operation which followed the body of a terrorists and a T56 Assault rifle was also recovered from the same area.
Two of the four terrorists were killed in the MADHU area in a confrontation in the afternoon around 1.32 while a soldier was also reported killed and another injured in the same area in the afternoon around 1.35 in the afternoon. Troops recovered one LMG and a three T56 Assault rifles from the same area in the search operations conducted after the incident.
Two terrorist were also killed in the MADHU area, in the afternoon around 1.32, one around 5.20 in the evening, and the other in the morning around 11.15.
Meanwhile a soldier was injured due to the explosion of an anti - personnel mine around 11.30 in the morning in the same area while the terrorists fired mortars targeting Troops injuring one soldier around 11.05 in the morning in the PERIYAVALANKULAM AREA, VAVUNIYA.
Four terrorists were also killed in a confrontation in the KALLIKULAM area, VAVUNIYA in the morning around 8.00 on Sunday (06). 14 terrorists were reported killed and nine (09) were injured when Troops successfully launched a fierce attack around 9.15 in the morning on a line of LTTE bunkers destroying four (04) of them also the KALLIKULAM area.Two soldiers were reported injured in the attack.
Three terrorists were also killed when Troops fired at a group of terrorists in an ambush launched around 11.13 in the KALLIKULAM area.
Meanwhile, four terrorists were killed when Troops launched a fierce attack and destroyed three LTTE bunkers in the evening around 5.10.
