posted by Editor at 11:46 PMThe Media Centre for National Security dismissed speculation that the Muhamalai operation was launched by Army Commander Sarath Fonseka without Defence Ministry approval and said the security forces had got on top of the situation.
Director General of the Media Centre for National Security Lakshman Hulugalle said there was no truth to the speculation that the Army Commander had launched an operation without approval and said such stories were the work of mischief-makers.
"What happened was that the LTTE tried to attack us? We repulsed the attack and counter attacked and got on top of the situation. There is no question of the Army Commander launching any operation without Defence Ministry approval," Hulugalle said.
