Claymore Mine, Portable Generator and Welding Rods recovered in Thalaimannar and Mannar

During a search operation conducted in Thoddaweli, Thalaimannar. naval troops recovered an LTTE claymore mine weighing approximately five kilograms along with its pedestal, buried closer to the railway track.
In another search operation conducted past midnight, troops recovered a portable generator, 25 packets of welding rods, each weighing 2.5 kilograms, and 20 grinder discs left behind by smugglers in Katupalliya, Mannar.

Naval troops conducting two separate search operations based on information received recovered three serially-connected land mines and a claymore mine in Pesalai, Mannar on the 10th April 2008.
The three boxes were explosive filled land mines were found buried in the Mannar-Thalaimannar Main Supply Route (MSR). Two weighed 23.5 kilograms and the other was 22 kilograms in weight. A seal type remote control circuit with a 9 Valt battery, an electric detonator and a 4-metre detonator code were also recovered along with the mines. The mines were later defused by the naval bomb disposal team.
