Daya Group of Companies bombed-Two injured -Gamage requests additional security

Two people were injured following a grenade explosion in Daya Group , Pepiliyana, Borelasgamuwa last night . Police said that according to eyewitnesses unidentified men riding a motorbike lobbed the grenade and fled.
Owner of the Daya Group Mr.Daya Gamage is contesting Eastern Province Election behalf of the UNP.
Mr Gamage has requested the IGP to increase his security after this attack.
Speaking to media today he said most powerful political leaders are behind this scene and they wanted to stop his political journey by bombs, weapons or threatening his life.
Mr.Gamage is a leading entrepreneur and he was a product of Ampara .
“This is my first election which I contest as a candidate, he said through the phone.
Explaining his political environment in the Eastern Province he said a majority of public is with the UNP. Some of armed political parties forcefully spray their preferential numbers on walls of innocent voters .However the UNP never threat any voter to cast their votes behalf of the UNP, he said.
He said these threats cannot stop his political journey but plans to increase his security to serve the public.
“How can we freely contest the polls , he asked.
According to him , the Daya Group of Companies assist rural masses to obtain employment , to grow their fields and start self employment projects .“I did so many social works, charity works and community projects during past years , he explained.
Meanwhile IGP Victor Perera has informed all police officers serving in the East that they would be held responsible for any election-related violence that takes place in their respective division in the run up to the provincial council polls there.
The police chief has informed them by letter to take steps to maintain law and order in their areas.
