DIG seeks SC intervention

W. F. U. Fernando, functional Deputy Inspector General of Police, has complained to the Supreme Court that the National Police Commission had failed to consider his seniority and promote him to the rank of permanent DIG.
He alleged that consequent to the interviews held in May 2007, an officer junior to him had been promoted to the rank of DIG. Although he had held the posts of functional DIG in the Wanni and Jaffna Districts, the National Police Commission had made an unreasonable decision not to promote him.
