posted by Editor at 10:16 AMPAFFEREL says a situation has been created in the eastern province to hold a free and fair provincial council election.
Few minor incidents on violating the election law have been reported so far since the closing date of accepting nominations.
PAFFEREL has already started monitoring activities of the pre-election period. Foreign monitors from Germany, US, Portugal, Thailand and Switzerland will be in Sri Lanka to observe the eastern polls.
Around 2,500 local observers will also monitor the activities of the election. Chairman of PAFFEREL Kingsley Rodrigo says they will meet leaders of political parties and independent groups contesting the election this week. They also hope to meet the Elections Commissioner.
