Government plans to pay compensation of the Piliyandala bomb victims

The government has decided to pay compensation to the families of the victims of the bomb blast in Piliyandala on Friday.
A sum of 100 thousand rupees will be paid on behalf of each person killed. Additional 15 thousand rupees will be given for each funeral. Minister of Disaster Relief Rishard Badeudeen says a sum of 50 thousand rupees will be paid for each person injured.
According to the Minister the relevant officials were already taken measures to grant compensations soon. The conductor of the bus has also died in the incident. The driver of the bus is receiving treatment at the Kalubowila Hospital.
Director of the Kalubowila Hospital W.G. Gunawardena says 48 persons continue to receive treatment after being injured in the recent bomb blast in Piliyandala. Nine injured persons are receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital. Police spokesman senior DIG
N.K. Ilangakoon says nine persons have been arrested in connection to the blast. He said questioning has revealed important facts pertaining to the blast. Mount Lavinia and Piliyandala Police are jointly conducting further investigations.
Meanwhile, parliamentarian Wimal Weerawansa points out that the Piliyandala blast demonstrates yet again the barbaric response of the LTTE in the face of severe defeat inflicted by advancing security forces. He noted that the bus blast depicts the psychological breakdown of the LTTE. He stressed the importance of the security forces and the general public joining hands to ensure security.
