Govt. not keen to conduct fair poll - JVP

The government was not ready to conduct the Eastern Provincial Council election democratically and was using all the government machinery and resources to canvass for the UPFA candidates, JVP Parliamentarian Anura Kumara Disanayaka said.
All the government circuit bungalows and rest houses in the province were booked and ministers were seen campaigning in the Eastern Province, he said.

Since the Pillayan group was allowed to carry firearms in the area, there was fear among the people. Two brothers, both of them Grama Niladharis were murdered recently and it showed that the government was allowing violence to spread in the province, Dissanayaka said.
