Govt. violating election regulations - UNP
posted by Editor at 10:49 AMCharging that the government is violating election regulations in its campaign for the forthcoming Eastern provincial Council election, the UNP has lodged six complaints with the Department of Elections.
These complaints include the abduction of a person, use of state resources for election campaigning and intimidating government officials, reports from the UNP say.
The UNP says that Mohan Velu, the son-in-law of its candidate for Padirippuwa was abducted and that UPFA candidate A.L.A.M. Hiszbullajh has indulged in election campaigning from a government office.
In addition, the main opposition party says that several government ministers have been using state resources including vehicles for campaign activities.
