Iran decided to assist modernization of Oil refinery in Sri Lanka

Iran has come forward to grant financial support to modernize the Oil Refinery complex in Sapugaskande.
Iran has signed an agreement in this regard with Sri Lanka at the official visit to Iran made by President Mahinda Rajapakse recently.
Under the modernization plan extra oil refinery plant is to be set up in the complex increasing the storage capacity by hundred thousand barrels.
The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation says this will also enable to produce extra amount of LP gas. Iran also grants technical equipments know-how in this regard.
