JVP MP further remanded

JVP MP Jayantha Wijesekara who surrendered to Police in connection with hijacking vehicles has been further remanded till 21st April.The courts also returned the 3 stolen JVP vehicles to the registered owners on a bond .
Last week , Piyasiri Wijenayake and Achala Jagoda said that they did not submit a complaint to the police regarding their hijacked vehicles .They have already submitted a letter to the Inspector General of Police and stating they did not a complain about the vehicle theft.However Inspector General of Police Victor Perera says that he cannot withdraw this complaint.
He said his department could not accede to a request made by two JVP dissidents to release JVP Trincomalee District parliamentarian Jayantha Wijesekara.
He said that the police cannot take the law into its own hands but had to act according the decisions of a Court of law. Commenting on the request made by Jagoda and Wijenayaka to release Wijesekara, he said according to the law a suspect once remanded could not be released without an order from Court.
