Labour deal signed with Sri Lanka

MANAMA: Bahrain yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Sri Lanka on boosting employment opportunities and expertise.

Labour Minister Dr Majeed Al Alawi sealed the deal with Sri Lankan External Employment Minister Dr Kehelya Rambukwella.

Under the deal, Sri Lankans will have to sign an initial contract with employers specifying their rights and duties in line with Bahrain's law in the private sector.

A joint technical committee will also be set up to draw up bilateral co-operation programmes, follow up the implementation of the MoU, solve problems and convene annual meetings.
