NBRO says several areas in the Walapane area under the threat of landslides

The National Building Research Organisation says several areas in the Walapane Divisional secretariat division of the Nuwara Eliya District is under the threat of landslides.
The organisation said as a result of torrential rains the area is gradually dipping.
Head of the landslides unit of the organisation R.M.S. Bandara said this poses a serious threat to the Kirthi Bandara Maha Vidyalaya in Kubalgamuwa and around 70 houses in the area.
The organisation notifies residents to evacuate the buildings and the traffic to avoid using the Walapane-Naranthalawa highway.
