No Anti Sri Lanka Propaganda to serve LTTE - UNOCHA assures MoD
posted by Editor at 10:08 AMThe United Nation Office of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in Sri Lanka today denied of having any connection with LTTE terrorists or being associated with anti-Sri Lankan propaganda efforts of the terror outfit.
At a discussion with Sri Lanka's Human Rights Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe and Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Ministry of Defence today, the UN country representative Neil Buhne and Head of Office OCHA Sri Lanka, Zola Dowell explained that there was no basis to the news published by defence.lk website that LTTE had influenced the UNOCHA to embark on false propaganda missions against Sri Lanka.
However, the two UN representatives admitted having several rounds of meeting with regard to Humanitarian Affairs in Kilinochchi and Batticaloa districts.
The officials also assured that the UNOCHA would not give in to the demands of a terrorist outfit in any circumstance or engage in false propaganda against a democratically elected government.
