No decision to increase milk powder prices

Ministry Bandula Gunawardena says the government has not taken any decision to increase milk powder prices. He said the maximum retail price of 400 grams of milk powder is 275 rupees.
The consumer protection authority signed an agreement with milk powder importing companies to retain this price for a period of 6 months. Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today the minister said this period ends this month so the two parties are now engaged in discussions regarding maintaining stable prices.

Meanwhile, the Sri Lanka Consumers’ Union also plans to import milk powder. These imports will be distributed through cooperatives and Lak Sathosa outlets.
