Rs. 18.9 m vehicle for Minister Ranawaka

A Land Rover Discovery, worth Rs. 18.9 million, has been imported from the United Kingdom for Environment Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.
The City Branch of the Sampath Bank has carried out the related banking aspects of the transaction.
On February 19th, the Customs had released the vehicle imported through 'Sann Freighters' of Ragama.
Earlier, there were allegations against Ven. Ellawala Medhananda Thera, leader of the Jathika Hela Urumaya, to which Mr. Ranawaka belongs, that he had illegally sold a super luxury Benz that had been imported by using his duty free license.
