Security Forces continues in intensive attacks on the LTTE Forward Defence Line

Army Media Spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara says the Security Forces are currently engaged in launching intensive attacks on the LTTE Forward Defence Line in the North. Operations in Muhamalai, Kilali and Nagarkovil continue in addition to attacks launched by three Battalions in Mannar, Vavuniya and Weli Oya.

The Spokesman added the troops are laying siege to the sacred Madhu church from positions 600 metres to the South and two kilo metres to the east. All supply routes of terrorists have been blocked.

Minister Felix Perera has made a request from Catholic clergymen to assist in the efforts to bring back the sacred Madhu Statue of the church to an area under the control of the Government.
