President meets EPC governing party

President Mahinda Rajapakse met the members of the governing party of the eastern province at Temple trees on Saturday .
At the meeting, Hassen Maulav was chosen as the Leader of the House of the Eastern Provincial Council while Thuraiappa Navarathna Raja was appointed as the chief organizer of the ruling party.
Mr. Faiz was proposed as the Chairman of the Council and N.K.D.S. Gunawardena was named as the Deputy Chairman of the council. Provincial Minister M.A.L.M. Hisbulla proposed to hold a workshop on administration for the members of the Eastern Provincial Council.
Responding to the proposal the President stated a local and an international training would be provided to newly elected councilors on local government issues in the near future. He also instructed authorities to provide necessary security for the members of the council.

Special attention focused on the teaching vacancies in the Eastern. Minister Susil Premajayanth disclosed 400 teachers will be recruited shortly in both Sinhala and Tamil media based on the results of the recently held teacher examination.
He pointed out it would fill 90 percent of the teacher requirement in the province.
Meanwhile, the President added the international community including government of Japan has agreed to provide grants to uplift the infrastructure facilities in the province.
