Troops capture terrorist "Trench Line" killing Five and recovering 85 anti- personnel mines

Troops have maintained offensive action against LTTE terrorists in the WELIOYA area throughout Saturday(10).

Three terrorists were killed and four terrorists were reported injured in the fighting in the area of JANAKAPURA NORTH , WELIOYA .

In the search operation which followed the offensive Troops recovered a body of a terrorist, a T56 assault rifle, and one hundred and forty nine (149) anti- personnel mines from the area.

Meanwhile, the Army kept the pressure on the terrorists in the NORTH KIRIIBBANWEWA area, WELIOYA in the morning around 10.15 on Saturday(10) to capture a LTTE area including a terrorist " LINE OF TRENCHES" killing one terrorist and another reported injured in the attack.

Eighty five (85) anti- personnel mines, three Drums of Light machine gun rounds and tin food were also recovered by Troops in a search operation conducted after the attack.
