2 Police constables killed by alleged LTTE gunmen- Ampara

Two Police constables attached to the Samanthurai Police were shot dead by alleged LTTE gunmen this morning (June 19), while heading towards Kalmunai along the Akkaraipattuwa- Kalmunai main road at the Tharawakovil junction in Ampara district, at around 8.45a.m.

The victims were identified as Constable S. Ramesh and Constable S. Gasali who were riding towards the Kalmunai courts' on a motorbike. The assailants have come on a motorbike, opened fire at the Policemen killing them on the spot and fled the scene immediately, sources said citing witnesses.

The bodies of the two constables killed were kept at the Kalmunai Ashroff hospital for postmortem and magistrate inquires.
