4 UNP MPs officially call for Ranil's stepping down

A quartet of United National Party MPs has officially challenged the leadership of Ranil Wickremesinghe.
They have proposed to a specially appointed committee that Rukman Senanayake should replace the incumbent leader, and that either Joseph Michael Perera or Gamini Jayawickrama Perera be appointed deputy leader.
The four MPs - Ravindra Samaraweera, Lakshman Seneviratne, Jayalath Jayawardena and Johnston Fernando - call on Mr. Wickremesinghe step down from the leadership.The special committee of party seniors Rukman Senanayake, Gamini Jayawickrama Perera, John Amaratunga, Joseph Michael Perera, Sarathchandra Rajakaruna, Renuka Herath and Amara Piyaseeli Ratnayake has received several proposals for the restructuring of the party.
According to Mr. Senanayake, who is the UNP chairman, the final draft containing these suggestions will be handed over to the party leader on June 29th after he returns from an overseas tour.
