The Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), together with two of India’s leading universities, has launched a five-year unified international Bachelor’s – Master’s Degree Program that provides a fast-track way for students to complete an undergraduate degree in India, followed by a postgraduate master’s degree in Thailand, in five years rather than six.
The new program in Technology, Management and Development offered in collaboration with India’s Shivaji University (SU), Kolhapur and Sir Padampat Singhania University (SPSU), Udaipur, leads to a unified bachelor’s-master’s degree that is spread over five years, and between the two countries. The program at Shivaji University is to be implemented at its International School of Engineering and Technology (ISET) and AIT. The first intake in India is scheduled for July of this year.
AIT President, Prof. Said Irandoust, explained that this unique unified degree program marks a major step-forward for the Pathumthani-based postgraduate institute in terms of its networking approach to learning and its strategic goal of forming academic partnerships with universities in the Asian region. “AIT’s internationality and its close relations with academic institutions throughout the region have uniquely positioned our Thailand-based institute to reach out to students at all levels all over the region,” president Irandoust said.
Completion of a master’s degree at AIT normally requires two years of formal academic study, following completion of a four-year bachelor’s degree. However, under the new program, participating students who graduate with a four-year bachelor’s degree at SU and SPSU in India may enter AIT to undertake a fifth and final year of study. Upon completion, students will graduate with a bachelor’s degree from the partner university and a master’s degree from the Asian Institute of Technology.
