DGUNP plans to contest under the UPFA umbrella

Democratic Group of the United National Party says they will contest under the UPFA umbrella for the forthcoming Provincial Council Election .
Addressing a media conference Minister Dr.Rajitha Senaratne said their members have discussed with the UPFA to reach an agreement .At present the Democratic Group is finalizing their candidates for the Sabaragamuwa and North Central Provincial Councils election.
“We will nominate our candidates within this week, he said.
During the Eastern Provincial Council Election the Democratic Group of the UNP has assisted the UPFA to obtain more votes for their candidates.
According to the Minister Senaratne two leading members of the Democratic Group of the UNP still represent these Provinces. They are Minister Mano Wijeratne and C.A.Sooriyarachchi.
Meanwhile Department of Election called applications for the postal votes.
Speaking to media General Secretary of the United National Party Tissa Attanayake said the party would nominate their Chief Ministerial Candidate for the Sabaragamuwa Province during this weekend. Yesterday UNP Chief Ministerial Candidate Upul Santha Sannasgala rejected UNP’s offer to contest under the UNP ticket for the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council.
