Fierce battle in Mannar front; troops capture 3 Sq Km, 18 terrorists killed

Troops engaged in counter terrorist offensive operation in Mannar front inching further towards LTTE dominated areas capturing 3 sq Km areas in north of Adampan. In fierce gun battle took place in mainly three areas, Mullikandal, Minnaniranchan and Marattikannaddi, terror transmission confirmed that 18 terrorists were killed and 6 others wounded.

Troops attack at terror bunker defence in general area Mullikandal killing 5 terrorists and injuries 6 others. 3 soldiers also suffered injuries in this battle. Enemy bunkers at Minnaniranchan were also attacked by the troops killing 5 more terrorists. 8 more terrorists were also killed when the troops confronted with the terrorists at Marattikannadd area. One soldier suffered injuries due to the confrontation.
