Foul play ruled out after Sri Lankan woman found dead in street

POLICE yesterday ruled out foul play after a Sri Lankan woman was found dead on the street in Limassol on Sunday morning.

The 43-year-old woman was discovered in the middle of Cleopatra Square in the Katholiki area in Limassol.

Reports said the woman had just broken up with her 35-year-old Turkish Cypriot boyfriend after an argument on Friday. She had then gone back to his house, which is located near where she was found, to try and get back together, apparently telling him she would hurt herself if he did not get back with her.

According to police, the 35-year-old had dumped all her possessions in a nearby alley way. Her body was discovered on Sunday with her purse a few feet away from her body.

At first, police thought she had been murdered but after an autopsy and investigation the act of foul play was ruled out. Nevertheless, the ex-boyfriend is helping police with their enquiries until an autopsy can formally identify the cause of death.
