Freelancer for ‘Thinakkural’ abducted

A freelance journalist for ‘Thinakkural’ newspaper has been abducted by a group in a white van.

Identified as Thirukumaran, he had been taken from his home at Ebenezer Place, Dehiwela around 8.30 pm yesterday (June 21st), the Free Media Movement said.

The abductors had been wearing military and civilian clothing, according to reports.

Mr. Thirukumaran, an officer at the Ministry of Environment, is also an environmental activist.

Dehiwela Police said that they were unaware of any search operation conducted in the area by law enforcement authorities last night.
