Grenade attack on MP Range Bandara’s office

An unidentified gang had lobbed a hand grenade at the Anamaduwa office of United National Party MP, Palitha Range Bandara last night (June 25th), Anamaduwa Police said.
No one has been hurt in the incident.
Speaking to media, Mr. Range Bandara said that two persons on a motorcycle had entered the office through a window and hurled the grenade.

The explosion has damaged the office interior, as well as furniture and equipment, he added.
The Parliamentarian also said that his district office in Madampe too, came under a grenade attack on June 24th, around 2.00 pm, but it had not exploded.
Noting that he had no personal enemies, Mr. Range Bandara said that he suspected that such attacks against him were a result of his criticism of the government.
If not, a certain group has taken advantage, he said, adding that the attacks would not have been possible without the backing of the government.
