Heavy casualties on the LTTE in confrontations in Welioya

Troops have inflicted heavy casualties on the LTTE in confrontations in Welioya and Vavuniya.
Five terrorists were killed and nine reported injured during operations conducted by the Army in north Kiriibanwewa and north Janakapura areas in Welioya yesterday. The media centre for national security said eight soldiers were also reported wounded in action.
Eight LTTE terrorists were killed and one terrorist was reported injured during a series of confrontations with Troops yesterday in the areas of Navathkulam, Periyamadu, Chettiyakulam, Nandakandal and Periyapalimollaithottu and Vavuniya. The media centre said the Army recovered an assortment of military hardware yesterday in Mutur and from Kattiadampankulam in Trincomalee.
