The UNP protest - Jana Bala Kahala Nadaya campaign against high cost of living held at the Lipton Circus in Colombo .The UNP said it was successfull.
It was organized by the UNP, SLFP (M), SLMC and WPF .
All vehicles on the road were to blow their horns, flash their lights and stop wherever they are for five minutes from sharp 12.00 noon in protest against the Government.’s ruthless and atrocious hikes in the fuel prices which are having a ripple effect on all goods and food items driving the people to untold despair.
Our sources said Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe and SLMC Leader Rauff Hakeem were present at the protest. According to sources the traffic is considerably conjested and police were seen writing down the numbers of the vehicles participating in the protest.
Meanmwhile Colombo Magistrate on Tuesday rejected an application put forward by the Police against the UNP protest against the protest campaign.
Speaking to media General Secretary of the UNP said the court's ruling on the march is legal .
