Jayalath denies calling for Ranil's expulsion

UNP MP Dr. Jayalath Jayawardena says that although he stressed the need for an efficient mechanism to support and retain support for the party, he did not propose the ouster of incumbent leader, Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Speaking to media he said that Mr. Wickremesinghe was undoubtedly a leader with a vision.

"However, there are members within the party who possess ideal political zest and their talents should be utilized to maximum use. They should be given responsibilities. The UNP needs an efficient mechanism of the sort," he added.
