JVP selects its Chief Ministerial Candidates
posted by Editor at 1:43 AMThe Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna [JVP] selected its two Chief Ministerial Candidates for the Sabaragamuwa and the North Central Provincial Councils.
General Secretary of the JVP Tylwin Silva said Chameera Koswatta will act as their Chief Ministerial Candidate for the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and Parliamentarian Wasantha Samarasinghe will act as the
Chief Ministerial candidate for the North Central Provincial Council.
At present Koswatta holds Leadership of the JVP Student Wing and member of the Politburo. Parliamentarian Samarasinghe also a trade unionist, said Mr.Silva at a press briefing held in Colombo on Wednesday.
According to Silva Mr.Koswatta leads Ratnapura district and Mahinda Jayasinghe leads Kegalle district.
Indrananda Silva leads Polonnaruwa district and Wasantha Samarasinghe leads Anuradhapura district under the JVP umbrella.
Addressing media today Mr.Silva said the UNP is still searching its Chief Ministerial candidates .A veteran Tuition Master Upul Shantha Sannasgala has turned down UNP’s offer and Ex-Senior DIG Sirisena Herath also refused to contest under the UNP ticket.
