JVP to sue the government
posted by Editor at 10:00 AMThe People's Liberation Front (JVP) has decided to go to the Supreme Court against two attacks on their cadres at Arachchikattuwa in the Puttalam district.
JVP cadres who were protesting the skyrocketing cost of living on May 8 were assaulted by a group of thugs and the JVP is pointing the finger at local politicians of the government.
Four JVP cadres including a provincial councilor were hospitalized in the incident. On May 9, another protest was held against the attack on the previous day. Worsening the situation, an unidentified band of goons threw burnt engine oil at the dispersing protesters.
Meanwhile, the JVP today also announced that they would go to the Supreme Court against the sudden dissolution of the North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Councils.
Local media said , “JVP MP Vijitha Herath today charged the government for directly and knowingly supporting the LTTE by arousing continuous racism and racial riots and also holding unwanted elections.”
