PNM's path cannot be tackled & obstructed - Amila Thera
posted by Editor at 10:17 AMThe Patriotic National Movement's Propaganda and Publication Secretary Ven. Dambara Amila Thera said that the path of the PNM cannot be tackled and obstructed.
He was delivering a lecture at a public seminar titled ‘responsibility of the national movement in the face of foreign involvement’ in Maharagama today (June 16th).
Speaking to media, a member of the organizing committee said that though the event was originally to be held at the Maharama Youth Centre, they were compelled to change the venue to Somro Hall after the original venue was not granted.
Despite the change of venue, over 3,000 people attended the event, he added.
Due to inadequate space, the gathering was given seating facilities in the second floor of the building, where a wide digital video screen was set up for them.
In addition, loudspeakers were installed for those who flocked around the hall.
Speaking further, the prelate said, "We emphasize that the activities of the PNM cannot be stopped by obstructions such as changing seminar halls. We also think that the government should realize that big halls are unnecessary to inform the public."
Despite the poster that advertised the starting time of the seminar as 3.00 p.m., it was brought forward and started at 10.00 a.m.
By the time the seminar ended, the Colombo District Court issued an injunction to Ven. Dambara Amila Thera and three others against holding meetings and news conferences using the name of the PNM.
