Ranil must resign from the party leadership says Rajitha

The democratic group of the United National Party say the only solution to the crisis in the UNP is for Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe to resign from party leadership. The group further points out majority of the party also hold the same view.

Minister Rajitha Senaratne at a media briefing in Colombo on Thursday he said the UNP under the present leadership of Mr. Wickremasinghe has not ability to win any election.

Minister Senaratne has further said the first rebellion against Mr. Wickremasinghe had taken place in the year 2000 under the leadership of late Gamini Athukorale. Eruptions against party leaderships had taken place in every two years thereafter.

He further said the group will contest the forthcoming Sabaragamuwa and north central provincial council elections with the government and the nomination list will be handed over to the President by the 21st of this month.
