Ranil wants political solution if govt. continues with war

Opposition leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has urged the government to go for a political solution immediately if was not in a position to end the war and provide concessions to the people.

Speaking at a function at the Kolonnawa Urban Council just prior to his India visit, he alleged the present regime of misleading the public about the war.

"This government is telling that the war will be over today or tomorrow and is asking the people to tighten their belts. But, an end to the war is not in sight. People cannot tighten their belts any longer. If the war is at an end, it should be ended soon and the people given concessions," he said.
