Retired police officials to help uplift waning service
posted by Editor at 11:48 PMThe UNP is to form an organization of retired police officials to fight against what it called the decline and politicization of the police service today.
UNP MP for the Puttalam district, Palitha Range Bandara who is also a retired police official, had mooted this idea which received the green light from the party’s Working Committee recently. Mr. Bandara said that some retired police officials had already pledged to join hands with them in this regard. “Today, the police service has declined to such low level. Police officials have become the bootlickers of politicians. So, action needs to be taken to hold the service in high esteem again,” he said.
Meanwhile, the UNP MP said that they would file a case against the OIC of Bambalapitiya for allegedly harassing UNP MP Chandrani Bandara and the Party’s Colombo-West Organizer, Rosy Senanayake during the recent vehicle protest.
“We can sue him under the Criminal Code. We will also file a fundamental rights case against him for allegedly trying to abuse a woman,” he said.
