Rs 60 million said to be spent for exhibition

A sum of Rs 60 million is to be spent for an exhibition which is to be held in Colombo to mark 20 years of introducing provincial councils informed sources from the Western Provincial Council told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
The exhibition is to be held at the BMICH on November 7th 8th and 9th this year.
According to sources Rs 1.5 million is to be spent for a giant pandal which is to be erected at the entrance while Rs 6 million is to be spent for the promotional activities.
It is also reported that the Western Province Chief Minister is not aware of this move.
Meanwhile it is also reported that President Mahinda Rajapaksa had advised a senior administrative officer of the provincial council against spending lavishly on this exhibition.
The plan to hold this exhibition comes after the Chief Ministers Forum deciding to cut down unwanted expenses at the recently concluded meeting of the forum.
