SLMC challenges TMVP to public debate on east

The SLMC yesterday challenged TMVP Leader and Eastern province Chief Minister Sivanesathurai Chandrakanthan to come for a public debate on the current situation in the East.
This challenge was made by the party in a statement yesterday.
The party said in the statement it is the people in the East who have lost the Eastern Provincial Council as they were brain washed with communalism. The SLMC said it will show everyone the charge made by Mr. Chandrakanthan and Muslim Ministers that they were responsible for the communal violence in the East is wrong. “The SLMC and the UNP, which acts as a bridge of friendship between the Tamils and the Muslims in the area, will take up this responsibility,” the statement said
It also said that the party would also disclose facts on the planned intimidation of those who voted for the SLMC at the provincial council poll by the TMVP and other Muslim ministers.
The party also reminded the TMVP and Muslim Ministers it did not contest the election with a communal mind set.
